Jack Armour
Groomer/Owner

Welcome to Jack Armour Pet Grooming! Thank you for trusting me with your loved one.
I began grooming as a teenager and went on to train formally under industry-leading professionals from New York. Over two decades, I've worked in animal shelters and corporate / private salon management while training groomers. My experiences taught me that pets need environments where they feel safe, unrushed, and understood.
I believe pets experience stress, discomfort, and emotional fatigue as people do. A dog's behavior during grooming communicates not only temperament, but also anxiety, physical sensitivity, or the need for reassurance and breaks. Recognizing these cues allows me to tailor each session to the individual dog for comfort, safety, and trust prioritization.
With my experience comes animal advocacy; I don't believe pets belong in cages or kennels, and I don't have them in my salon suite. I do not subject my two standard poodle girls to that environment and I extend that compassion to your family as well. I've always had a connection with animals and that has only deepened over decades of hands-on experience.
In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, cooking, and spending time with my family, including our standard poodles, Ava(14, cream) and Zara(4, parti - black & white).
"Your pet is never just a pet to us. They are not only our client and our responsibility, but they become part of our family too."

Derrick Douglas
Assistant/Owner

I am excited to work alongside my husband, combining my love of science, dogs, and cats to provide elite pet grooming services with my husband. We work in synergy in our suite, combining grooming expertise and science to pamper your loved one and provide endless solutions to pet care.
Prior to obtaining a degree in Biochemistry, I worked in healthcare and volunteered in hospice. My studies included dog behavior, anatomy, physiology, and physiological psychology, granting deeper insight into the dog body & mind, and the ability to render the most comfortable and safe experience for your loved one.
I have a deep passion for wellness, and a focus on optimal physiological functioning. Dogs are not just our pets, they are living, functioning beings that experience physical and mental stress just like we do. Dogs feel tired, anxious, sad, happy, and even pain. This may be indicative of an underlying condition requiring veterinary care, but other times our pets just need respite, accommodation, and attention.
From the age of 4, I have always had a fascination with dogs; I always wanted one as a child, but was not allowed! The next door neighbor had 5 dogs, and always needed someone to dog sit while out of town, so of course I considered myself lucky to be the one trusted to care for 5 cool dogs at one time. My favorite part of dog sitting was playing, petting, and bonding with the dogs. This deepened my connection with all dogs, and of course had me in desperation for one by adulthood. Since dog ownership, my love has only grown stronger.
"Every animal we serve is not a task, but a life. A being with memory, feeling, and dignity - and that deserves to be treated with gentleness, respect, and presence."
